Introducing Jörniverse: Building Innovation and Community in Rural Areas

Creative Crowd recently had the opportunity to present Jörniverse in Jörn, a new social company initiative designed to create opportunities, strengthen local engagement, and explore innovative approaches to community development in rural areas.

Jörniverse represents a long-term commitment to supporting local participation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration while creating conditions for sustainable growth and innovation. The initiative is supported by Creative Crowd through the InnoGS project, funded by Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic (Interreg NPA), where we work together with partners across Northern Europe to strengthen inclusive and sustainable innovation ecosystems.

One of the key lessons from our work - both locally and internationally - is that successful innovation does not happen in isolation. Strong ecosystems are built through collaboration between organizations, communities, businesses, public actors, and individuals who share a commitment to creating positive change.

This collaborative approach is reflected not only in InnoGS but also in broader international initiatives such as the URBACT SHIFT-R (Shaping Innovation Friendly Territories) project. Through SHIFT-R, partners from Fundão (Portugal), Żory (Poland), Kymi-Aliveri (Greece), Macouria (French Guiana), Nykarleby (Finland), Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Trostyanets (Ukraine), and Skellefteå work together to exchange experiences, strengthen innovation capacity, and develop more resilient and innovation-friendly communities.

These international collaborations continue to demonstrate that innovation extends beyond technology and business development. At its core, innovation is about people, partnerships, and creating opportunities that enable communities to thrive.

The presentation in Jörn provided a valuable opportunity to share the vision behind Jörniverse, discuss future possibilities, and gather perspectives from participants. The engagement and discussions reinforced the importance of locally rooted initiatives that are supported by strong regional and international networks.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the presentation and contributed to the conversation. The interest, ideas, and enthusiasm shared during the event are important foundations for the continued development of Jörniverse.

This marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and we look forward to working together with the community, partners, and stakeholders to explore what Jörniverse can become in the years ahead.
